Excursions and Culture

National Park

The AIFS cultural calendar is designed to make the most of what the local area has to offer. This may include a tropical fruits class, Costa Rican dance class, theater visit and movie night in Heredia town

Tortuguero

Located on Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast, Tortuguero National Park is known for its lush rainforest vegetation, wildlife including crocodiles, monkeys, sloths and iguanas and a network of lagoons and canals that can be explored by boat. You’ll stay in rustic lodge style accommodation situated in beautiful gardens with a pool. After exploring the National Park with a guide you can head to the beach to watch the sunset or laze in a hammock.

Poas Volcano

Peering into Botos Lagoon, one of the craters at Poas Volcano, you’ll see deep blue waters and eruptions of muddy water and steam. Apart from its volcanic activity the area is an example of Costa Rica’s incredible biodiversity – look out for the Poas green-yellow squirrel because you won’t see it anywhere else in the world.

Other excursions can include Café Britt coffee roastery, Monteverde Cloud Forest, Arenal Volcano, Isla Tortuga and Manuel Antonio National Park.
