The AIFS cultural calendar is designed to take advantage of local sites, events and festivals. In Guanajuato this may include a visit to the ‘Museo de las Momias’ – the Mummy Museum, a trip the local stadium to see the ‘lucha libre’ wrestlers, a visit to Diego Rivera’s birthplace and a local fiesta.

San Miguel de Allende

An hour away from Guanajuato is San Miguel de Allende. A quirky haven in the 1940’s drawing hippies, beatniks and artists together it’s now home to a large community of expatriate retirees. Still, the creative buzz pervades and institutions such as the Escuela de Bellas Artes and the Instituto Allende continue to attract students from all over the world. The city itself is the main attraction with beautiful colonial architecture and pretty cobbled streets making it a lovely place to spend the day.
