The Globe Theatre
The academic component of the program is offered by a student's home institution usually taught by faculty from that college or university. For this reason students only pay regular tuition to their home college for the duration of the program in addition to the basic program fee. It also means that there is no problem at all with the transfer of credit as the course are all recognised by the home college. The courses taught usually make the most of the location so instead of reading the textbook students can get out of the classroom with professors and experience it for real. London becomes your classroom.
At the request of the college, AIFS may arrange supplemental courses taught by local faculty. In London, courses that colleges have requested in the past have included Art History, Theater, Shakespeare, British Politics, Economics, Marketing and British Life and Culture.
The British Life and Culture course is made up of lectures by local professionals and professors on different aspects of British Life and Culture from the monarchy to pop culture. There are supporting field trips and the US professors act as teachers of record. Please note that this is only available to some semester programs.
