AIFS Partnership Programs: Faculty-Led Study Abroad Programs

What is Included in the Program?

• Academic program of courses taught by Northern California Study Abroad Consortium faculty and AIFS in Florence faculty.
• Housing in twin room apartments with cooking facilities in the historical center of Florence within 25 minutes walking radius of the AIFS Study Center.
• Orientation program including a student orientation meeting, and half-day walking tour of Florence, and workshops with local staff about life in Italy.
• Welcome reception.
• Program of subsidized extracurricular activities available at low cost to students including a weekly program of cultural activities, such as walking tours, cooking classes, wine tasting lectures, ballet, soccer matches, day trips to Siena and Pisa, concerts and film nights.
• Free wireless internet access in the study Center during class hours, Monday to Friday, plus a card to use at a chain on internet centers in Florence.
• Membership with borrowing rights to the British Institute Library in Florence.
• An Italian Life and Culture course, taught by local qualified English-speaking guest lecturers focusing on historical, political, economic and cultural aspects of Italy and Florence.
• Museum pass valid for the duration of the program with unlimited entry to the Uffizi Gallery, Accademia, Bargello, Pitti Palace, San Marco Museum and Medici Chapel.
• Access to AIFS Student Center providing on-site student information services from a team of experienced, full time AIFS staff, providing personal advising, fax and mail services and 24 hour emergency duty phone service.
  
• Student medical and program fee refund insurance policies.

Optional Extras:

On a space–available basis, students may purchase the optional transportation package consisting of round-trip airfare (SFO– Florence–SFO) and round-trip transfers overseas between the airport and the housing in Florence. Cost is $695 plus airline and government imposed fuel surcharges and taxes estimated at $590. There is also an optional transportation package for students on the pre tour consisting of flights from SFO to Paris, London to Pisa, Pisa to SFO plus transfers in Paris to accommodation and from Pisa to accommodation in Florence. This is also $695 plus airline and government imposed fuel surcharges and taxes estimated at $620.

Optional meal plan of 30 vouchers to use in a selection of restaurants and trattorias for a supplemental fee of $545.
