Partnership Short-Term
Educational Programs
Two to Three Weeks
"The
AIFS Partnership staff has a 10+ year proven record with us
for their collaborative efforts and wonderful support." |
Art Turmelle,
Coordinator
Campus Abroad, Foothill College |
AIFS has designed Partnership Short-Term Educational Programs for those
faculty and students who would like the study abroad experience but
may not be able to spend a semester or regular summer period abroad.
AIFS allows institutions to customize their own programs while still
providing logistical support, student services, and classroom and housing
facilities at a location abroad. This enables the university or college
to conduct its own academic program abroad for either two or three
weeks in a January or May intercession, or in part of the summer period.
In order to keep costs affordable, programs require at least 12 to
15 students per faculty participating.
Partnership arrangements enable institutions to provide low-cost
study abroad options for their students. As a partner, the home institution
maintains academic control over their students while abroad. Faculty
from the home institution teach their curriculum abroad (with optional
use of local guest lecturers or approved local language teachers),
and the school determines admission criteria and selects and enrolls
students. The school retains tuition fees and students pay a non-academic
program fee to AIFS.
Locations Worldwide
The Partnership Short-Term Educational Program allows faculty to
choose from many locations around the world. In addition to our
traditional Partnership Long-Term Academic Program locations in
Argentina, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, France, Ireland,
Italy, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom, Vietnam, faculty
may also choose further locations in Europe, Latin America, Asia,
and the Pacific.
Support
In addition to logistical support, AIFS can offer social
and cultural activities for students with assistance of the AIFS
representative at the overseas site.
AIFS assigns a non-academic Program Representative to the group
who is responsible for day-to-day running
of the program and coordinating logistical support for the group
members. The AIFS Representative ensures the program operates
smoothly.
Payment for services provided by AIFS can be made directly to AIFS
by the student participants. No financial commitment to AIFS is required
of the participating college. Some institutions prefer to collect
all participant payments and make one payment to AIFS.
